Five generations of family members gathered to celebrate a very special milestone birthday.

Relatives came from as far afield as Thailand and Canada to celebrate Suzie Rogerson’s 100th birthday.

The Mother of three, grandmother of five, great grandmother of 12 and great, great grandmother of one was also joined by civic mayor Pat Haith for the celebrations at High Grove Nursing Home in Mexborough.

Mrs Rogerson was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a telegram from the Queen to mark the special occasion.

Speaking about the secret to her long life daughter-in-law Sandra Rogerson said: “I think being such a family women has helped and she’s never drank, never smoked, she’s a very quiet woman who always put family first.”

As well as gathering at the home to celebrate with Mrs Rogerson the family are planning to hold a party.
