Doncaster Little Theatre this week launches its fresh and exciting Spring Season to banish those winter blues! With a varied and packed programme of comedy, drama and music from January to April there’s something for everyone.
Five showpiece in-house productions by the Little Theatre’s own company, include three new plays performed for the first time in Doncaster:
Richard Everett’s Entertaining Angels, a recent comedy hit for Penelope Keith, is followed by a no-holds-barred, but hilarious office rom-com: My Romantic History. By DC Jackson and then Simon Stephens blistering play about dysfunctional teenagers; Punk Rock.
In addition we have two popular favourites; the great South Yorkshire classic Kes, by Barry Hines , which will also tour throughout the area at the beginning of March and a wonderful Roald Dahl family show for Easter : James and the Giant Peach.
But there’s more - our popular Comedy Club, in association with Abbcom Comedy, returns in February and we are delighted to welcome comedian Robin Ince, as part of the Doncaster Hothouse Festival.
Following her success last summer Tricia the Barefoot Medium returns with two more evenings of captivating clairvoyance.
Jackinabox Theatre Company presents Bryony Lavery’s hit play Stockholm, AntsIan Productions present Ian Clarke’s own new play, Farce, and we welcome back the brilliant Reform Theatre Company who give us Nick Lane’s My Favourite Summer.
For music lovers, we have Doncaster-born singer Lisa Faye, fresh from a season at the Trafalgar Studios in London, with “Streisand - the Main Event,” and “Mad about the Music” with singer Jane Francis.
The Avon Greyfriars return with Liz Lochhead’s charming comedy of love in a charity shop, “a Cinderella story for the 40 somethings” : Good Things.
No season at the Little Theatre is complete without the Young Lit. Our talented Youth Theatre bring us two exciting showcases of their work, as well as presenting a lively and fun production of John Gardiner’s Dracula Spectacula.
If you love film, don’t miss our regular film shows of recent releases on Friday afternoons, and Silver Screen presentations of classic old movies on Tuesday afternoons; Only £5 including free tea or coffee.
