Arty Dearne youngsters can put their talent to good use and may see their design on an MP’s Christmas cards.
Michael Dugher, the MP for Barnsley East, has launched his annual Christmas Card design competition, and has written to all Primary, Junior, Infant and special schools in his area, inviting students to enter.
The best design will be used as Mr Dugher’s official 2013 Christmas card, which will be sent to hundreds of politicians, local businesses, civic leaders and voluntary groups.
The best judged card from each school will also win a prize. School winners will form a shortlist from which an overall winner will receive a special prize.
The competition will be judged by Mr Dugher, the Mayor of Barnsley and the sponsors of the card.
This is the fourth year Mr Dugher has run the competition and each year has been more popular. Last year the standard of designs and drawings was incredibly high.
Mr Dugher said: “I was really pleased with the amount of interest the competition garnered last year and I hope that even more schools and students get involved this time.
“The competition is a great opportunity to showcase the creative talent of children in Barnsley and I’m really looking forward to seeing all the new designs this year.”
