Staff member Chris Broad told the Bells/Advertiser that six of the village home’s resident have been knitting blankets for a worthy cause called Kascare - aid for the AIDS orphans in Africa.

“We are hoping to get some sort of contact with one of these orphanages to be able to work with them more in the future,” explained Chris.

“Six residents in total took part and knitted two colourful blankets between them.”

It was hoped that they would be posted on to the charity last week.

Pictured with their knitting are Jean Davies, Ruth Scrimshaw, Charlie Dunn and Kathleen Johnson who between them knitted over 400 squares for the charity blankets.
