Kids invade Wath hall for Viking-themed activity session

Youngsters invaded Wath Montgomery Hall this week to take part in a Viking-themed craft session.

About 30 boys and girls, aged between five and 11, attended the week-long activity session during half term.

The group made model long boats, fjords and funeral boats,a long with crafted jewellery and model swords.

They also cooked traditional Scandinavian dishes, such as stews, breads and chutneys.

The session was organised by Acorn Craft Group, which arranges all kinds of family-friendly activities at Montgomery Hall.

Manager Jill Allsopp, of Wath, said: “They really had a good time and it was nice to see them getting stuck into it.

“The cooking was really fun and they came up with some really nice meals. We had a feast at the end of the week.

“The model boats and landscapes were also really artistic and imaginative.”
