TWO South Yorkshire bands are just one gig away from playing London’s O2 Arena in the grand final of an unsigned band competition.
Local talent from The Kamen and The Sherlocks have battled it out against thousands of acts to be chosen to take up a place in the North of England Area finals in Huddersfield on May 20.
They could both be in line for the top prize of £10,000 cash, another £10,000 publicity investment and a summer festival tour if they come out on top in the London final later this year.
The Kamen consists of drummer Chris Lewis, from Mexborough, bass player, Simon Fearn, from Maltby, guitarist Mark Rendi, from Thorpe Hesley, and Sheffield Uni student Andrea Oggiano.
Chris said: “Our aim is to make it through the next round and get to the Grand Final at O2 and try to meet as many people as possible, maybe open a few doors and use it as a springboard to greater things.”
Check out The Kamen for yourself at The Corporation, on Milton Street in Sheffield, tonight, where they’ll be supporting Danny Vaughn. Tickets costs £8.50. Doors 7pm.
Also, in line for the gig at the O2 are The Sherlocks, from Bolton on Dearne.
