A KILNHURST woman has seen her innovative idea of a clothing recycling scheme put into practice at her local community centre.

June Bates organises for old clothes brought into Kilnhurst Community Resource Centre to be taken to be sold at jumble sales or taken to be recycled.

The scheme helps raise funds for the centre, which offers exercise classes, line dancing lessons and a family history group.

June, who is a carer and activities co-ordinator at the nearby Meadow View care home, has also encouraged residents at the facility to get involved and help out.

She said: “I really enjoy my work at Meadow View and it seemed a great idea to get everyone to come and help out at the Community Centre.

“At Meadow View we’re passionate about being involved in the local community and I’m proud to be part of such a service.”

Jackie Thomas, Manager at Meadow View care home, added: “June has an amazing sense of community spirit and we have all really enjoyed helping out with the clothing recycling scheme”.
