A STAFF member has become the first to scoop a special award for his work at Doncaster College.

James Vernon, a field support engineer at the college, was delighted to receive the Professional Recognition Award.

The gong highlights the work that staff do for the college and 23-year-old James came top of the class for his patience and willingness to help people.

He was nominated by fellow colleagues for the award which was launched towards the end of 2011 and is to be given out three times a year.

The winner from Westwoodside, who has worked at the college for less than a year, said: “It was an honour to be the first to receive the award and I’d say to anyone who wants to win it just do what you enjoy otherwise you won’t put the effort in.”

As well as his certificate, James’ prize included a two-week pass to Nuffield Health in White Rose Way and a spa package.
