THE secrets behind Grandma Abson’s traditional baking were revealed to members of Haxey and Westwoodside Heritage Society.

Among facts recounted by Grandma Abson’s granddaughter Meryl White, was how oven temperatures were once tested by sticking a hand in the oven - and how scores of grandma’s recipes are now available on the internet.

Acting chairman Geoff Starr informed members that an open Easter themed tea will be held in Westwoodside Village Hall on March 23 from 2.30pm with Easter items, a cake stall, a raffle and refreshments all available.

The next meeting of the society will take place on March 14, when George Fiddler will show the Camera Club film of the Parish 2012 Jubilee celebrations to members.
