A FESTIVE feast of fundraisers aim to help a charity shop reach a £14,000 fundraising target.

Staff at the British Red Cross shop in Hall Gate have set themselves the mammoth task of raising that amount in just seven weeks in the run-up to Christmas.

They have already kickstarted the fundraising appeal through a handbag auction, a bingo day and coffee mornings.

More events are being planned such as cakes and books sale, half price clothing sale, cutest pet competitions, a ‘glitz and glamour’ clothing event, tombola as well as seasonal treats including a Santa’s Grotto and Name the Reindeer.

People can help the appeal by donating money, unwanted winter clothing and books.

The cash will be used to fund the work that the British Red Cross carries out in the borough as well as overseas.
