Housebuilder chips in to help young golfers

House builder Taylor Wimpey is teeing up to give cash to a group of young Doncaster golfers.

The firm sponsored Doncaster Golf Club’s Junior Open competition with a £500 cash donation, helping to fund a prize table at the event, which took place last month and saw more than 25 players taking part.

Simon Longworth, junior organiser at Doncaster Golf Club, said: “The Junior Open was a fantastic event for both new and existing members – and we were so grateful to have support from Taylor Wimpey.

“The prize table was a real hit with all attendees and helped us to attract further low handicap juniors to the club.”

The club currently has 25 junior players and over 450 senior members, as well as a steady stream of visitors and guests.

Just a short distance from the club is Taylor Wimpey’s Westlands development based on Hurst Lane in Auckley.

Anne Bagshaw, sales and marketing director, said: “It’s really important for us to get involved with communities where we’re building, so when we heard Doncaster Golf Club was seeking support we just had to get involved.

“We’re extremely proud to have sponsored this year’s Junior Open and hope everyone had a fantastic day.”
