Urgent action is needed to improve crucial aspects of patient care at Scunthorpe Hospital, a report has found.

The just-published Keogh Review, sparked by high mortality rates at 14 hospitals including Scunthorpe, revealed key weaknesses that need to be addressed.

The damning tally includes weak clinical leadership, poor flow of care for patients, inadequate acute stroke services, major staffing issues and lack of basic care for patients.

Trust chief executive of North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals Trust Karen Jackson said the report carried no surprises and proved bosses were taking action in the right direction.
