Parents are now able to sign their children up for free school meals at the click of a button thanks to a revolutionary new online app.

Doncaster Council has set up an online application process on its website for free school meals, which allows customers to apply online and receive confirmation of eligibility there and then.

Councillor Nuala Fennelly, cabinet member for children’s services, education and skills, said: “It is widely known that school meals are an excellent way for children to get a nutritious, satisfying lunch.

“For some families, depending on their circumstances, their children can eat for free, so I urge them to take advantage of this.

“Even if families do not have children who are eligible for free school meals – at around £2 – they are brilliant value for money.”

She added: “I am delighted that this new app has been developed to make applying for school meals even easier.

“My message to parents is, don’t miss out, be part of this success story and choose our healthy meals as part of your child’s diet.”

The new app is available on Doncaster Council’s website at www.doncaster.gov.uk. People should go to the ‘Do it Online’ page, or face to face customers can use the self service area in the One Stop Shop at the council’s Civic Centre on Waterdale.
