A new group has been set up in Doncaster to help people who have mental health needs.
The group, organised by staff from Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), will be launched next week on September 24.
The group’s main aim is to help members increase their confidence and self-esteem, to gain a sense of belonging, socialise with people in a similar situation, talk about their problems, and help each other as they work towards feeling better.
The group has a packed ten week programme including healthy eating, football to suit all abilities, advice workshops, gym opportunities, a chance to gain a vocational qualification, and an opportunity to work alongside a qualified Doncaster Rovers coach.
Karen Noble assistant occupational therapist said: “The course will be fundamental in helping those with mental health needs onto the road to recovery. The course will not only help improve members’ mental health and wellbeing but also their physical health”
The group will start on September 24 and run on Tuesdays 1pm till 3pm at the Keepmoat Stadium.
