Help on hand at hepatitis event

residents are being warned of the rising levels of hepatitis C at an awareness day.

Staff from Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) will have a stall at the Frenchgate Centre on Friday, July 27, as part of World Hepatitis Day.

The overall goal for the day is to alert people to the fact that the rate of hepatitis infections is far higher than the prevalence of other diseases such as HIV or any cancer.

Yvette Stones, RDaSH nurse specialist, said: “Hepatitis is closer than most people think and is a potentially fatal disease with relatively few symptoms, which affects one in 12 people worldwide.

“We aim to raise local awareness.”
