MISS South Yorkshire is going to Gambia... but first she must go to specsavers!
Hannah Higgins is on a mission to the Gambia to help set up a vital clinic for eye care for people too poor to afford eye treatment.
But first – and inside a fortnight – the 20-year-old Rawmarsh medical student must raise $1,000 AND collect 1,000 pairs of old specs to take with her!
Hannah has received help with her specs-collect from Rotherham Rotary Club. She said: “I’m having an amazing time as Miss South Yorkshire and it would be amazing if people could donate any pairs of glasses they have”.
Leeds student Hannah won her competition title after impressing judges with her home-made Yorkshire tea bags eco-dress. She will compete in the Miss England competition later this year.
* Meanwhile you can donate glasses at Wath, Swinton, or the Rotherham Central libraries.
