Green light for homes

A SCHEME to build 145 houses in Goldthorpe has been given the green light by Barnsley Council planners.

The plans by Steve Gamble are for a development on land off Barnburgh Lane. They include 36 two-bedroomed houses, 78 with three-bedrooms and 31 four bedroomed properties with 213 parking spaces and 64 garages.

But the scheme was opposed by some residents, who said the area was over-developed with much of its green space lost.

The developers will give £100,000 to pay for new changing facilities at Goldthorpe Recreation Ground as part of a Section 106 agreement within the proposal.
