Gift for Doncaster education unit

A FATHER has raised money for a new school pool table after one of Doncaster Council’s specialist units helped his daughter through a long-term illness.

Roy Herring’s daughter, Jade, recently left the Maple Medical Pupil Referral Unit after a couple of years of home tuition and classes within the Link education centre.

He was so grateful for the support Jade received that he climbed the Three Peaks to raise money for Link. By scaling Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis, Roy and a friend raised £400 for the school.

Headteacher Kath Formby said: “We are very grateful for the recognition that Roy has given to all the hard work that staff do at Maple Medical Pupil Referral Unit. We are also very grateful for the difficult challenge they set themselves in order to raise this money.”
