BRITISH athletics star and ice-dance champion Tim Drake has been found dead at his South Yorkshire home in a hanging tragedy, the Times can reveal.
The father-of-three PE teacher’s body was discovered at Goldthorpe, leaving his family and friends bewildered.
A success at all he attempted, Tim, 45, had everything to live for. But he had fought a losing battle to save his marriage and was in the throes of divorce.
His family revealed that he had been fighting depression at the time of his death.
This week, hundreds turned out to his funeral at Ardsley Crematorium, Barnsley, to pay tribute to the one-time Great Britain triathlon team ace, whose other achievements had included Iron Man and marathon challenges, and winning the Hallam FM Ice Factor competition, with ice-dance co-star Helen James-Green.
His sister Beverley told the Times: “He was the life and soul of every party.”
