The proprietor of Doncaster’s green burial park is burying his father at the site near Bawtry today.

Peter Tulley, who died last week aged 83, was from a well-known Doncaster mining family and worked his way up to colliery overman after 40 years at Markham Main Colliery, Armthorpe.

“He was known for being firm but fair and steadfast in his decisions at work, however, family stability and security was the first priority,” said his son Gordon.

His wife, Mary, died in 2000 and her ashes have been exhumed from Rose Hill to be placed in Mr Tulley’s casket.
