MEMBERS of the public can now view the areas most at risk of flooding in Rotherham on the council’s website.
The authority has published their Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment document on-line at the main Emergency Planning page at www.rotherham.gov.uk/info/200039/emergencies
The report shows that more than 8,500 residential properties in Rotherham are potentially at risk from surface water flooding, compared with less than 300 properties at risk of flooding from rivers.
A total of 106 areas have been identified for prioritisation in subsequent flood risk management planning by the authority.
Over the next six years the council will have to prepare flood risk maps and plans, asset data register and local flood risk strategies.
They have now submitted the Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment to the Environment Agency and will send it on to Defra in December.
