Fire round-up: Wheelie bin, mattress and car destroyed in separate Doncaster blazes

A car, wheelie bin and mattress have all been destroyed in separate blaze incidents in the Doncaster area overnight.

In the first incident at around 7.30pm last night, crews from Askern station were called to Rose Lane in the town after reports of a mattress on waste ground being set on fire.

Crews used water backpacks to tackle the flames and the fire didn’t spread.

Then, at around 10.20pm, officers from Dearne station were called out to an address in Highmill Avenue, Swinton to deal with a car fire.

The make and model of the vehicle are not known and it was not immediately clear if the fire was deliberate or accidental. Crews spent twenty minutes at the scene.

Finally, officers from Doncaster station were called to an alleyway off Abbott Street, Hexthorpe at 1.10am after an industrial size wheelie bin was set on fire.

Crews spent twenty minutes damping down at the scene.
