DOCTORS have been fighting to save a Doncaster man who suffered a bullet wound to the head in an incident at his home.

Joshua Moore, 22, was in a critical condition but stable at Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield following the shooting at his home in South Bank, Stainforth.

Police will not say how Joshua, who used to train at Hatfield Amateur Boxing Club, came to be shot by a 9mm pistol.

Emergency services were called to his home, based near the canal, at 7.15pm on April 20.

Detectives are investigating who owns the pistol and how it came to be in his possession.

Joshua was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the brain injury unit at Sheffield.

Police have declined to say whether the gun was deliberately fired or went off accidentally, but foul play has been ruled out.
