Festive fair set to become a major tourist attraction

the FREE Press is supporting a new Christmas fair extravaganza that is hoping to become as famous as others in the region.

The two-day Festive Food and Gift Fair at Doncaster Racecourse is hoping to rival events such as the world famous Lincoln Christmas Market that attracts up to 25,000 visitors each year and Leeds’ German Christmas Market

The event will come to Doncaster on Saturday and Sunday, November 19 and 20, where Deliciously Yorkshire will provide a packed programme of cookery demonstrations featuring Yorkshire celebrity chefs and key local producers, giving shoppers a few helpful hints and tips to cook up a storm this festive season.

Gourmet foods and wines will also be on offer as well as plenty of gifts and treats and festive decorations.

The event is backed by a £75,000 multi media advertising campaign supported by South Yorkshire Newspapers, and will target the South Yorkshire, Humberside, Bassetlaw and Derbyshire region.

Event organiser, Idea Uk managing director Paul Bentham, said: “There are terrific Christmas shows throughout the country and I want to reproduce such an event for our region. Doncaster Racecourse is the perfect venue situated at the centre of good travel networks such as Robin Hood Airport, M1, M18, M62 and the East Coast Mainline.

“We are determined to put on a first class event and ensure that everyone gets to hear about it that is why I am delighted to announce the involvement of our partners Deliciously Yorkshire, South Yorkshire Newspapers and the region’s premier lifestyle magazine, Profile.”
