The Don Valley Music Festival is marking its 100th anniversary - and a Conisbrough community centre is playing a pivotal role in the celebrations.

Conisbrough-based singing group Musical Notes are to perform alongside the nationally famous Strata Brass, at the festival’s Grand Centenary event to be held in the Ivanhoe Centre on Saturday, May 19, at 7pm.

The Ivanhoe Centre is a venue used by young and old alike for a huge variety of activities and is the home of the Conisbrough Community Association (CCA)

Here are just a few of them to put into your diary.

The Conisbrough Youth Musical Theatre are performing spring production, Wind In the Willows on there on Friday 24th and Saturday March 25. Both performances start at 7pm. Tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children. Refreshments are available from the Community Café.

The next popular in-house dance will take place on Saturday March 17, 7.30-11.30pm, with a green theme to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Entrance £3.50.

Spaces are available for the weekly Qi Gong Exercise session which is held in the Lockesley Hall of the Ivanhoe Centre each Thursday morning from 10-11.30 am. Qi Gong is an easy to follow combination of controlled breathing, focused concentration and simple movement. The group uses a full hour of gentle exercises centred mainly on breathing problems which is then followed by 30 minutes of relaxation therapy.
