Support scheme for flood victims is expanded

Flood victims in the Isle who are still not back in their properties will now get extra help to return.

It is nearly four months since over 500 properties were affected by floods across North Lincolnshire.

North Lincolnshire Council is to offer additional help to victims, with four support schemes to add to the £300 flood relief payments and council tax discounts available since last December.

This includes:

• Council tax relief – eligible properties will qualify for 100 per cent discount for up to nine months followed by an additional 50 per cent discount for three months.

•Business rate relief – all eligible businesses will receive 100 per cent business rate relief for three months.

•Repair and renew grant – grants of up to £5,000 for flooded homeowners and businesses to help improve a property’s ability to withstand future flooding and help with affordable insurance. Council officers will visit as many flood affected properties as possible to discuss the grant. Call Liz Webster on 01724 297000 to fix a date. Expression of interest forms are at www.northlincs.gov.uk/flood-support.

• Business support – grants of up to £2,500 for small and medium enterprises whose businesses were affected by flooding. Qualifying businesses will either have been flooded or suffered from a significant loss of trading as a result of the flooding.
