Experts help house project

English Heritage has been called in by Bolsover Council to lend its expertise to help save energy.

A master class was held, to train council workers on re-pointing the external brickwork at its Energy House, a Grade II listed Victorian building in the town which is being converted to show off new ideas for saving energy.

Bolsover Council’s cabinet member for housing, Coun Keith Bowman, said: “We have always been at the forefront and willing to try out new ideas to help improve the energy efficiency of our properties and this project is a prime example.”

Bill Martin, conservation director, from English Heritage said: “This project will show how traditionally constructed homes’ energy performance can be improved without harming their historic character.”
