The new name and first image of the brand new children’s activity centre planned for Denaby’s former Earth Centre site have been revealed recently.
Kingswood Education and Adventure has named its new multi-million pound flagship project the Dearne Valley Activity Centre and released this artist’s impression of the future shape of the former Cadeby Colliery site.
The international company – which provides children’s residential activity centres in the UK and France – says it reached a decision on the new name after discussing plans with Denaby and Conisbrough residents.
The theme of the new centre will be “environmental sustainability” – and Kingswood intends to retain and refurbish some of the existing Earth Centre buildings, as well as building new accommodation for visiting students and teachers.
The outdoor park will have an 11,000 sq ft indoor activity and sports hall, classrooms for ICT, a high adrenaline ropes park, amphitheatres and performing arts facilities.
Kingswood has now submitted the plans for the 50-acre site to planners at Doncaster Council.
The company hopes to open it to the public in Spring next year.
