Another 30 people have been fined by Doncaster magistrates for dropping litter.

The littering offences were committed across the borough – from the town centre to Mexborough and Thorne – by Doncaster residents and others from as far afield as Gloucestershire.

Peter Dale, director of regeneration and environment, said: “We work hard to make our area an attractive place to live, work and visit so anyone who is caught littering anywhere in the borough has to pay for their actions.

“Ignoring a fine or a court appearance won’t make it go away and although people shouldn’t drop litter in the first place if they pay the initial fixed penalty this would be far less costly.”

Those who attended court or pleaded guilty by post were fined £75 and those who did not attend and had the cases proved in their absence were fined £200, plus costs.
