Two household waste recycling centres in Rotherham could close twice a week to help council bosses save cash.
The Warren Vale tip at Rawmarsh could close on Tuesday and Wednesday each week, while the Lidget Lane site at Bramley could close on Thursdays and Fridays, if plans are approved.
Opening hours at Car Hill, Greasborough and Magilla, North Anston, will remain unchanged.
A decision is to be made by Rotherham Council’s cabinet next week.
Coun Richard Russell, cabinet member for waste and emergency planning, said: “We have to make a budget saving of £26,000 and believe the partial closure of these sites is the best way to achieve that while avoiding the need for permanent closures.
“This will minimise the impact on the majority of the Rotherham public who use our sites.
“Cutting back on opening hours is not really an option because there would be little point in opening if we reduced hours further.
“But we hope the public will understand that to achieve the required level of savings we need to do something that is the equivalent of closing one centre for four days per week.”
