Whilst in Africa the Durham University student will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - the world’s highest freestanding mountain, at 5,882m. to raise cash for Save The Children.

But in order to be able to take part in the challenge she needs your help to raise £3,100 to make the trip possible.

Elizabeth, 20, of Pinefield Road, is in her second year of a biomedical science degree.

She said: “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I think Save The Children is a really good cause.

“I’ve got lots of charity events planned for when I get back to university to raise money like sponsored rows, cake sales and a raffle, but I need all the help I can get.

“My family and friends think I’m really brave for putting myself forward for it, I think it’s going to really difficult but very rewarding.”

After the exhausting climb Elizabeth will spend two weeks working in a hospice providing care for orphaned children with HIV and Aids.

Save the Children, provides support to children in over 120 countries, with a focus on increasing access to education and preventing malnutrition.

Elizabeth added: “I would be incredibly appreciative of any donation, however small.

“All money donated will go directly to Save The Children and Would be invaluable in helping me my fundraising target.”

Elizabeth is scheduled to jet off to Tanzania in July.
