a SEARCH to find an 82-year-old woman called Eileen as part of a store’s 30th birthday celebrations was a success thanks to the Free Press.

Clothing chain Bonmarche asked for help to publicise a competition to find an Eileen in honour of the Come On Eileen classic by Dexy’s Midnight Runners which was in the charts in 1982.

Out of four Eileens that came forward, the store selected Eileen Button, of Armthorpe, who spotted a piece on the competition in the Free Press earlier this month.

Great-grandmother Eileen, who spent 30 years as a waitress, was thrilled with her prize of a Bonmarche outfit.

She said: “I was surprised that I got picked and it’s a really lovely prize.”
