WORLD Cup referee Howard Webb has handed out gold stars to keen young footballers from the Dearne.
Kristan Fox, Sam Hanna and Jake Russell met the Premiership and World Cup Final 2010 referee after proving their commitment to free coaching sessions run at the Dearne ALC.
Sport FX began in November last year, and from an initial 10 children attending, has in excess of 100 children going along.
The three youngsters to receive certificates were chosen by PCSO Craig Butcher, for their overall determination.
Insp Alan Simpson, of the Dearne Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are really pleased with how Sport FX has been used by young people in the area.
“It has now been agreed that Sport FX will continue throughout the area for at least the next three years, enabling us to develop the current activities and discuss what more we can offer young people of the Dearne.”
Sport FX offers free football coaching sessions by qualified coaches and is open to 11-18 year olds from the area, every Thursday and Friday from 7-9pm at the Dearne ALC.
