YOUNGSTERS at Westwoodside Primary School enjoyed a fun tiger-themed day as part of their ‘active learning’ curriculum.

Teacher Helen Spowage explained children from the foundation level cut out tiger shapes, read stories, recited rhymes and even indulged in some stripey face painting, courtesy of friends of the school, David and Tessa Evans.

She said: “We aim to make activities fun and relevant for their learning. This week is about animals and the children wanted to hold a tiger day.

“They were asked to bring in tiger stories and books as well as soft toys. There was lots of interest from the children and families and everyone has enjoyed finding out about tigers.

“We are very fortunate to have an excellent relationship with parents so on a day like this it’s nice to get a good response which is positive.”
