A LITTLE Gallic flair was added to lessons at South Axholme School earlier this week.

The Epworth school held a European Language Day with 25 students and staff immersing themselves in continental studies.

Teacher Sue Scott helped organise the day-long activities and explained the thinking behind the event.

She said: “There’s always a European Language Day every September and this year we decided to do something a little different.

“We’ve been writing some articles and producing a newspaper, in French, about different subjects such as the Olympic Games, a problem page, horoscope and the new school uniform.

“We also had our normal food tasting activity, from different countries, and we also dressed in clothing representing each European country.”

Mrs Scott said students were provided with resources and power point presentations to help with their studies.

She added: “It was a good day and there was also an enterprise element with the journalistic angle and cross-curricular activities involving other skills.”
