CHILDREN from Balby and Hexthorpe spent part of their holidays completing their first ‘Bike Ability’ course.

Year 5 and 6 pupils from Balby Central Primary, St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary, and Hexthorpe Primary were invited by Balby and Hexthorpe Safer Neighbourhood Team to take part in the course, which was staged in Hexthorpe Park as part of the Team Green Britain Bike Week.

Seven children took part in the course, which showed them how to check their bikes and gave them advice on road safety awareness on the roads in their area.

All the children passed and were awarded with certificates and badges for their achievement.

Police Community Support Officer Carol Bennett said: “Most children have got bikes now, and it is important they learn how to look after them and ride them safely in their local area.

“The children loved taking part in the course and showed lots of enthusiasm to learn about bike safety.”
