DEARNE Valley College students have been prepared for the world of work, with a week of advice and guidance.
The Wath-based college invited local employers to form a Question Time panel, and answer students’ queries as part of Employability and Careers Week.
Students heard first hand what employers look for in a job application or CV, and picked up hints and tips on how to enhance their prospects.
Panel members included representatives from Barnsley Metrodome, Rotherham Youth Enterprise and Doncaster Council among others.
Volunteerism Day was held during the same week to give students the chance to learn about those opportunities too, and local artist, Brian Nelson of Encaustic Art Plus, offered workshops for students.
Careers advisor Laura Schofield said: “The goal of Employability and Careers Week was to familiarise students with varying careers and to assist them with all aspects of the recruitment process.
“The sessions were to help prepare them for progression from education to employment”.
