Pupils see democracy in action

A TRIP to London was an end of year boost for Rawmarsh Ashwood school, and included a trip to Parliament.

A total of 27 pupils from Year 5 were joined by headteacher Andrew Jessop, who said: “It was a perfect day in our capital city!

“My favourite part of the day was 4D London experience – the special effects were amazing – it was a fantastic day out!”

This was the seventh successive year such a trip has been funded by the school’s PTA, supported by companies and organisations from Rawmarsh and Parkgate.

They included AESeal, Royal Bank of Scotland, Staniforths, Viking Motors, and Vantage Pharmacy among others.

Pupil Jack Kent described the day as “a truly unforgettable experience – every activity was educating and fun”.

The party was joined by MP John Healey for tours of the House of Commons and House of Lords

After it, Healey said: “The pupils were surprised by the long history of parliament and asked lots of questions. They were a great credit to the school and to Rotherham”.

The day also included a Thames River cruise and a ride on the London Eye.
