Pupils help name town’s streets

SCHOOL pupils have taken part in a competition to pick street names for a new council housing development in Thurnscoe.

Youngsters at The Hill Primary School in Thurnscoe chose the names Lidget Close and Miner’s Row for the 19 new council homes.

The winners of the naming competition – Jade Hanquinioux, Keighlea Hiles and Gypsy Wright – were awarded goodie bags and vouchers.

Barnsley Council, Berneslai Homes and Bramall Construction are building the new homes, which will be ready for opening in June.
