SPORTY students from Rawmarsh got a taste of college life - and gave it a big thumbs-up!

The Y10 Rawmarsh Community School pupils, who are all taking a BTEC First Diploma in Sport, spent an afternoon looking around Dearne Valley College and took part in warm-ups in the gym.

Matt Boucher, assistant headteacher at Rawmarsh, said: “We received a very warm welcome. Our strong links to the college help young people to make that sometimes difficult first step away from school and aspire to continue to achieve in education and training.”

Michael Blythe, DVC sport and physical recreation, said: “The group who attended were all polite, enthusiastic, hard working, and did everything with a smile on their face. Upon leaving they should have also developed the knowledge and skills needed to lead their own practical sports sessions should they return to DVC on a sports course.”
