GENERATIONS joined together to celebrate Christmas at a special event in the Isle of Axholme.

Students at South Axholme Community School in Epworth welcomed pensioners from the town onto the campus for an annual festive party.

The pupils helped teachers to organise the table spreads, food and drinks.

Party hats were also given out to help get the audience to get in the mood for Christmas.

Dozens of pensioners gathered into the school hall for the festivities while the school band played throughout the afternoon last Wednesday.

School staff member Jan Scaife, who helped organise the event, said: “We hold the event every year and this one was very well attended, we had about 80 senior citizens come into school for the event.

“The pupils sat and talked to them all afternoon, which was great to see.

“They always enjoy it and get a lot out of it.”

She added: “We had a lot of favourable comments from the senior citizens who attended.

“The school band also played great and there were a lot of refreshments on offer which the pupils helped to prepare.

“The school council did a lot work to help organise the event.”
