Outwood Academy Adwick has reported record results following its move into a new building in less than a year ago.
The £16m academy, which opened in February, has seen overall improvements in pupils’ behaviour attendance and achivement - with a five per cent increase in the number of students achieving five A* to C GCSE grades including English and maths.
Last year the academy achieved 56 per cent and this year’s figures show it has risen to 61 per cent.
Some 98.4 per cent of students achieved at least five A* to C grades overall.
Julie Slater, executive principal at Outwood Grange Academies Trust, said: “New facilities at Outwood Academy Adwick include improved teaching spaces and a dance and drama studio. Additional features comprise state-of-the-art sports facilities including a new synthetic turf pitch and multi-use games area.
“Wates (the developer) also built a £1.2m conference centre, which is available for hire. We designed a building that was fit for purpose and we are now reaping the benefits of having high-class facilities for our students and local community.”
