MEXBOROUGH School became a crime scene for a day recently, as students took part in a murder mystery event.

Pupils teamed up with youngsters from Montagu Junior School to investigate a ‘murder’ in the school’s library.

The young detectives were faced with a chalk body marker on the floor, and had to measure the height of the victim, before investigating further clues.

They also had to take fingerprints and do blood splatter analysis, with fake blood. Following their investigations they had to come up with a story as to who had committed the murder.

The event was organised by the Doncaster Book Awards team, who included characters and clues from the shortlisted stories in the murder mystery.

The winning story described how a character from one of the shortlisted books had been lured to the library by another character and then attacked.

Library and Communications Officer Emma Maltravers said: “It was a really good day, and it was great to see so many junior school pupils here, working with our students.”
