baRNSLEY Town Mayor, Councillor Karen Dyson, paid a special visit to Robert Ogden School last month.
The visit coincided with the school’s safety week, which featured visits from local police and fire service units who spoke to pupils and showed them their service vehicles and animals.
The specialist school in Thurnscoe, Rotherham, is for children and young people living with autism and Asperger syndrome and is run by the National Autistic Society.
Gillian Roberts, principal of the school, said: “We are so happy to have the chance to show the mayor our school.
“We hope the day provides a taste of the fantastic achievements that the students here at the school make.
“It is also great to have the local community fire and police services in to talk to the children and young people.”
Gillian added: “The Robert Ogden School is an important part of the local community and we are delighted to have the opportunity to engage in this way with community figures and services in the region.”
