LUCKY Dearne kids left Goldthorpe’s drizzle for Springtime in Paris – and a lazy cruise along the Seine.
A group of 37 students from Years 7 and 8 went to the Chateau de Grande Romaine, just south of the French capital, for an action-packed few days.
The sun shone for a trip up the historic Eiffel Tower, from whence the party looked out over the city to identify famous buildings and places.
The hot weather stayed long enough for the boat cruise, and then a whole host of outdoor activities, back at the Chateau.
These included the challenges of climbing, abseiling and a final “leap of faith” conquered even by those with a former fear of heights.
Local markets allowed the youngsters to practise their French conversation, before they visited the Vimy Ridge War Memorial. Then it was off to Disneyland Paris.
Leader of student progress Viki Rodgers said: “Students loved the trip and enjoyed the mix of history, culture, practising their language and finally the visit to Disneyland Paris – where some even met Mickey!
“What trip to Paris would be complete without the Eiffel Tower, a boat trip along the Seine and then Mickey Mouse!”
