THOROGATE Primary pupils showed their mettle in a “Kids of Steel” Triathlon held at Maltby.
The year sixers from Rawmarsh put their bodies to the test by swimming, bike-riding and running over 1,400m.
The fun race was designed to give the kids a first taste of a triathlon, and involved over 20 schools from across Rotherham.
John Barnett, headteacher at Thorogate School said: “It was a great event and the children found it very challenging, but loved every moment of it”.
Tata’s South Yorkshire HR manager Mick Hood said the company was thrilled to bring the event to Rotherham.
“The series has been received brilliantly across the country, with more than 25,000 children taking part since it was launched in 2007”, he added.
“Our aim is to get children excited about sport and to encourage participation in triathlon at a grass roots level.”
