A NEW Discovery Visit is a draw for school parties at Brodsworth Hall.

A large painting by Ludolph Backhuysen is on show, and pupils are invited to “immerse themselves in the 17th-Century seascape”, to understand how art can tell a story about history.

An exhibition helps to cast kids’ imagination back in time, and they can visit a room where the deck of the ship – the Dolphin – is recreated.

All kinds of activities on hand in this latest of four Discovery Visits at the Hall.

Others that also prove popular include Garden Detectives, Meet the Butler and Victorian Life, as pupils compare the lives of the wealthy Thellusson family – who built Brodsworth Hall – with those of the local people who looked after the household.
