Poets, singers and dancers from the Isle showed off their performing skills when Epworth Primary Academy hosted an Epworth’s Got Talent show.
The academy had a great response from primary pupils of all ages with 50 acts entering the competition. Members of the Isle’s teaching staff initially had the job of selecting 16 acts to go through to the finals.
Acrobatic dancers, poetry readers, singers and musicians all took to the stage.
Judges included associate principal of South Axholme Academy Scott Barlow, performance arts and dance teacher of South Axholme Academy Sarah Brookes, Alex Earnshaw of Locomotion Dance Studios and Epworth Primary Academy teacher Dan Sykes.
Epworth Primary Academy vice principal Sarah Venables said: “Family members of the finalists filled our hall and were entertained to an impressively high standard. We would like to thank Friends of Epworth School, who served refreshments to the audience and judges during the interval, and as always worked hard to support the school.
“The panel of judges had the very difficult and unenviable task of choosing a winner”. When their deliberations were over and all votes were in, the results were first place: Evie and Lottie Rae-Hassall, who performed a dance duet; second: Megan Durning, who performed an acrobatic dance; joint third: Harry Haigh, who gave a poetry reading, and Ruby Wilkinson, who sang a song from Frozen.
“Everyone had a very enjoyable evening. We would like to thank parents, contestants, judges, staff and Friends of Epworth School for turning out to support this wonderful event. We can confirm that Epworth has indeed got talent,” added Sarah.
