Ioan Morgan CBE, has joined Dearne Valley College (DVC) as the Interim Principal.

A spokesman for the Wath-based college board of governors announced this week that Mr Morgan has joined until July 2012. The previous principal of Dearne Valley College Paul Townsley left in January after just 18 months in the role, to follow ‘other personal and professional goals’.

Born in the South Wales Valleys, Mr Morgan retired as Principal of Warwickshire College in September 2010. Since leaving Warwickshire College, he has run a highly successful consultancy company involved in projects at Peterborough Regional College, Birmingham Metropolitan College and for the Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA).

In 2007 he was appointed CBE for services to Further Education (FE).

Mr Morgan said: “I am very pleased and proud to be joining DVC for the period up until July. My intention is to focus on the learners, that they consistently have a high quality experience. I believe FE is the sector to revive the economy and change lives for the better. I look forward to growing our Apprenticeship numbers and helping to drive the local economy through training.” His CV includes leading three successful colleges and inaugural Chair of the 157 Group of colleges.
