YOUNGSTERS at an Isle primary school put their baking skills to the test as part of a unique fundraiser for a child in Uganda.

Pupils at Epworth Primary Academy got stuck into the mixing jugs to create a number of tasty treats.

After the ‘Bake Off’, the youngsters got to taste their own creations while watching a film.

They managed to raise £30 which will be added to a fund set up by the school to sponsor a child in Uganda.

The fund was created last September and pupils, parents and teachers have all worked together in the last year or so to raise money.

The total now stands at £229 and will help to give the child, called Allan, a better quality of life.

School spokeswoman Jamie Haigh said: “The children paid a £1 entry fee to take part or they made a donation instead.

“They came up with some really nice creations and they really enjoyed eating them. Each class hold events to help raise the money and about 28 pupils took part in this one.”

A number of other fundraisers are due to be held in the coming months.
